Lightship Woven
The Challenge
As an architectural component of the L1 vehicle, we needed to custom made a flooring to meet weight targets, requirements from Engineering while meeting our Design aesthetics.
The Outcome
After 6 month development, we created a patter that could be permissive, used and abused without compromising our aesthetics. This woven vinyl is ultra lightweight and thin - 1.1mm including backing. The 3D patterns made the weave seat quiet in the background, depending on the light or the time of the day this is an ever changing component of the cabin.
Repetition creates pattern - we balanced some of the organic and softer pattens existing on the cabin with these geometrical and precision patterns from technical textiles. Creating an ‘easter-egg’ moment for the user, where to read through its iconic L1 shapes overlayed with pill shapes that inspire motion and dynamism.
